To Reuse or Not To Reuse?

As the amount of information online continues to grow, a correspondingly important opportunity is for individuals reuse knowledge which has been summarized by others rather than starting from scratch. However, appropriate requires judging relevance, trustworthiness, and thoroughness others' in relation an individual's goals context. In this work, we explore augmenting judgements appropriateness reusing domain programming, specifically artifacts that result other developers' searching decision making. Through analysis prior research on sensemaking trust, along with new interviews developers, synthesized framework judgements. The also validated developers express desire help whether existing decision. From framework, developed set techniques capturing initial maker's behavior visualizing signals calculated based behavior, facilitate subsequent consumers' decisions, instantiated prototype system called Strata. Results user study suggest significantly improves accuracy, depth, speed decisions. These results have implications systems involving user-generated content users need evaluate relevance trustworthiness content.
